Formatting batons

Are you awarded an award or medal? Then you will usually receive a large model award and a baton. In some cases you will also receive a small model award and/or a badge. We will take care of the formatting of these batons.

A baton is a piece of decorative ribbon wrapped around a bar. The dimensions are the same everywhere: 27 x 11 mm. As a soldier, you always wear your baton on your daily uniform (DT).

How do you wear the baton of your medal or award?

Wearing awards and medals and making them up is not optional. Special rules apply to this. We know them better than anyone. The most important rule? The most important award, medal or decoration is worn closest to your heart. Would you like to read the rules yourself? You can! Carrying multiple batons?

Are you allowed to wear multiple batons? Then you have them formatted with a maximum of four batons next to each other. Are you allowed to wear more than four batons? Then you have them formatted stacked. An exception only applies to the Royal Navy (including the Marine Corps). As a soldier of the Royal Navy, you wear a maximum of three formatted batons next to each other. Are you allowed to wear more than three batons? Then you have them formatted stacked. Are you a uniformed police, fire or justice personnel? Then you also wear a maximum of three batons next to each other.
